MoFuse versus WinkSite for mobile site

Thanks to 1 of the 200 invitations ReadWriteWeb offered today, we’ve set up a test mobile version of Gaffney3.com using MoFuse, a new service that simply takes your RSS feed and automatically converts it to a mobile version. Its similar to competitor WinkSite, which boasts BoingBoing among its customers, but without the community service.

The MoFuse screenshots below shows how it looks:

And WinkSite screenshot below shows the comparison:

One of the more distinguishing tools MoFuse offers is an opt-in Google Adsense integration. In exchange for providing the service and potential revenue stream, MoFuse will alternate their Adsense tag in splitting revenues 50/50. For those sites intrinsically linked to mobile users this is a no-brainer.There is no doubt that WinkSite is the more mature product from front-end to back-end. MoFuse is still in early beta and invitation only, yet it is a viable competitor. The administration and implementation is intuitive, while the product does not profess to be more than it is.

As the mobile web continues to evolve, will these niche services remain necessary. Already, properly marked-up sites leveraging cascading style sheets (CSS) can deliver a complete and visually targeted site regardless of entry-point.If you miss out on the ReadWriteWeb invitations, I have 10 to give out as well. Shoot me an email and I’ll hook you up.
